chinese and IH today pretty much sucked. D: while the whole world was condemning IH to the bottom of their toilet bowls yesterday, i was studying for chinese. yet i still think im going to fail the freaking paper. D:

im afraid for IH. unlike, others, i kinda really like IH and how thought provoking and insightful the whole thing is. how you discuss these types of tangible or non-existant stuffs and concepts, it's all just really cool (even though i absolutely suck at it). it takes alot to really get your facts right and produce a paper but i guess it's all really worth it. :D

i really want to score for IH but my short, short script tells me i havent written enough to.

need to study GAMELAN(:D), excretion and chinese music. i feel quite confident for music when i havent even touched it yet, and ironically, i have no confidence for math at all.

okay, and geog is D: fail again. it's like re-anacting the whole scene for IH AGAIN.

oh and i've been influenced by mok to listen to good charlotte's "we believe".

totally regained my respect for them. i love that song so much, it's like the first song that's not of tokio hotel's to let me have goosebumps listening to it, and the lyrics are just beautiful.

thankyou for not undermining the value of music. :D

:D

i think my math tuition teacher is cool. :D

i just had math & chem tuition and jasper was damn hilarious.

like for chem:

me: "eh i dunno how to do the essay questions leh. D:"
jasper: "essay questions very easy what! out of 4 questions choose 3! :D"

me: "ya but i always got nothing to write!"

jasper: "eh chem essay questions very easy one. different type of questions got different way of answering."

me: "ermmmm.............. like?!"

jasper: "okay like you see this part got 2 marks right, so you write like 2 lines lorh. if got 1 mark then your answer roughly 1 line can already."

me: "huh! then the whole question 10 marks you write 10 lines arh."

jasper: "huh! oh NO NO NO..."

HAHA. and-

jasper: "mm do you notice like for math the more you study or the more you do, the more worried you get right? cause like your expectations get higher. dont worry okay? dont worry, it's nothing one! so dont study. HAHAHAHA NONONO i didnt say that. MUST STUDY. STUDY ARH."

and-

me: "eh i cannot do electrolysis! T.T"

jasper: "electrolysis? aye can one larh. dont worry. anyway electrolysis is a very small topic leh. i mean compared to what, hydrocarbons, electrolysis is probably like the "alkanes" part only. like one small dot. ya so dont worry. you see your o level paper have or not, normally never come out one."

-flips through the june o level paper-

jasper: "ah-ha! see! dont have! im so smart! mm ya so dont scare yourself!"

me: -.-

jasper: "eh really dont have leh." -continues flipping through the paper-

aye. it's really weird to see some uni student acting like some xiao hai zi sometimes.

some snippets of my past mundane life.

quoted from yinhwee's blog:

Oh yes. Speaking of silly things - yesterday we had PE. And we were allowed to choose any game we wanted to play because ms sabrina wanted to give our class more chances to play together. And she told us to decide on what we wanna play and then she went out. And when she came back it was like utter chaos!! We decided on a whim that we would play 老鹰捉小鸡 just cos it’s fun. How’s that for old school HAHA. Yeap and so we split into like 4 long lines and there were 4 老鹰s and it was just pure mayhem!! Screaming like madwomen and clinging on to each other for dear life while trying to escape the 老鹰s. I was behind zhengyan our 母鸡 and huiying was the 老鹰 going after us and she’s really damn aggressive playing it LOL very scared!! And at some point it got so intense that an entire row of another group collided with us and they all fell down (!!!) and while rolling around on the ground peisan was groaning and complaining that someone knocked into her boob OMG SO FUNNY LAAAA I’m like sniggering at the com screen typing all of this!

And I stole a glance at ms sabrina while we were playing and on her face was totally a look of “I can’t believe I am seeing this”… lawl. It’s not everyday that you can see us, otherwise perhaps dignified/demure/reserved/stylo sec 4s, really let loose and all go crazy running around shrieking like headless chickens. Hahaha!

Lol but after like 5 minutes she stopped us and told us to start playing a decent sport instead. =.=” So okay lor… anyway we had quite enough of it already. And moreover we were all breathless with laughter by then. x) Hahaha. Omg I really love my class la full of siao people! :D :D

haha. erm that was P.E. like 3 weeks ago. apparently i forgot how much mundane life could be so ridiculously hilarious. i was behind lianghui and gang with limqing behind me. and lianghui was our 母鸡. lianghui was so aggressive lah! sheena was the 老鹰 attacking us, and instead of sheena attacking us, lianghui was attacking sheena instead! haha it was damn hilarious cause lianghui was damn fierce, and she was like "clawing" at sheena, trying to protect us.

i bet sabrina never saw madder sec 4s in her life. lots of juniors were like staring at us cause we were in the hall, and our P.E. was during break. omg so malu-ed.

------

once again from yin hwee's blog:

i love hugh laurie. :D okay apparently helen mirren is trying to talk but hugh laurie keeps interrupting her to show off his french by saying the translated version of her speech. :D in the end, helen mirren finally out wits him, and "Pouf... cinq! "

i think hugh laurie is PRO. he was a comedian in britain before casting in house in america, and ya! he's cool! :D

him performing on Bravo tv, singing "mystery". HE'S PRO IN THE PIANO. D:

HOUSE season 3 bloopers. the last bloooper is dead hilarious. imagine during surgery and that happens. AND THE PATIENT IS AWAKE haha.

i love him in house, and i believe he's like pro enough to do anything. :D haha! he's cool.
-------

we've received our concert recording last week. i cant say how proud i am to be of NYCB. :D

the recording was great, but listening to it all together as a band made it all more meaningful and worthwhile. hymn was love, i cant describe in words how i felt about it. the emotions running high, memories flowing back, everything was just so wonderful and blissful.

it even brought tears.

latin, disney, 76 tbones were awesome. we could hear the crowd ROARING. haha! :D it was love.

okay im not good with words, but i have the same sentiments as mokmok. a.k.a. YANYAN. :D

and i love this. im stealing it from ziyan:

The sky has to be a symbol of peace. However, there is sky where combat planes are flying when children look up. That is very sad. I wish there would be no more conflict on the Earth. I hope that children all over the world will hold onto their dreams towards the sky. I pray to the infinite sky for world peace.

- words of the conductor of the school band who commissioned the work, Hymn to the Infinite Sky

------

technically L.A. is history.

it ended with me "bawling" "I SCREWED UP". D:
okay i thought the compre sucked. i couldnt do it. and my SRQ was longer than my essay, which was on ART IS REVOLUTIONARY. which was totally off topic. D:

course work last week was pretty screwed too. i ran out of time D: didnt put in phrase markings, didnt write pedal marks, my ending sucked, (it only had like 2 bars of post-lude) and i didnt delete off the last bar. -.-

RAHHH i dont like sibelius. i take like a lifetime to write whatever i can write in finale on sibelius. finale's so much easier to use. :D

---

i fell sick on monday. was down with FOOD POISONING. nearly died cause whatever i ate i just puked out, which equals to eating nothing at all. D: was also down with flu and throat inflamation. suckss. D:

----

I FELL IN LOVE WITH NIGEL KENNEDY. :D he's amazing at the violin, and he's totally a genius. :D he's the first musician (and i mean musician, not like pop/music artistes) to have a release sold over 2 million copies all over the world. the release, "vivaldi's four seasons" earned him a place in the guinness book of records as the best selling classical work ever.

i love his melody in the wind! :D it's impressionistic, and if you really listen with the heart, you can really feel the wind. :D cool eh!

he also manages to make ancient pieces like danny boy and scarborough fair, which are basically irish and english folk songs, into post-modern sounding pieces.

rahhh. genius. :D

----

okay beethoven is pro too.

being deaf composer and musician isnt as easy as i thought it might have been. D: beethoven suffered alot i guess. imagine not being able to hear what you've composed, hear what you've played, or hear what you conduct. it's impossible to carry. but he did it.

that might have also explained his thunderous horroundeous bad temper. :/

----

staying with sok for yesterday and today was quite productive, but i studied bio instead of IH. D:

i have absolutely ZERO motivation for IH. gender inequality is killing my braincells. AND it's DEPRESSING.

okay. need to finish chinese tuition 2 stuffs, finish integration by tmr night. start studying for bio and chem.

omg im going mad soon. im like hooked onto doing math. i cant bring myself to do any revision of bio or chem or geog! (and i havent started revising any. -.-)

i feel so screwed. it's like i spend 24/7 doing nothing but math math math. (and music) every lesson in class is turning into a math period cause our class just heck about whatever the teacher's talking about, (regardless of whether it's bio, L.A. or chinese etc.) and just KEEP DOING MATH.

we're all going mad. and i hate calculus and trigo. D:

last week and this week were total madness. with all the WEP mess and all. (AND im still very angry over the whole thing. WHY WAS I SO NAIVE. D:) i spent like almost 24/7 doing music music music and nothing else, (well except for math in class), and stayed up till 3 almost every night to finish music. for the first time in my life, i felt that music was really my life, as in negatively, and for the first time, and hopefully the last time, i was actually troubled by music. D:

and i actually spent the whole of last sunday, (literally the whole day) doing nothing else but composing my song on sibelius. D:

but i guess the hard work (and time and sweat) really paid off, when mrs ee recgonised my effort put in and commented on my composition piece, saying that it was an improvement. YAY! :D

course work started on monday, and tmr's the last session. 2 more hours. 2 more hours to put in lyrics, accompaniment, ending flourishes, dynamics, tempo marking, phrases, check harmonics etc etc. feels like there's so much more to do in that 2 hours tmr. D: i hope i'll be able to finish on time. and on second thoughts, i realised that it doesnt really sound very great. D: scheisse.

i think im going to fail.

im probably going to fail L.A. compo or SRQ, or maybe even compre. or summary.
i feel damn insecure about L.A. D: but i really need my A. at least an A2 please? now my L.A. marks are like hanging on the edge, ready to fall over to B anytime. D:

anyway, yesterday was our last official lesson for music. i was all "oh, last lesson. so?" about the whole last lesson thing at first, cause it didnt really sink in-

but then i realised, i've been in that class for merely 2 years, and im probably not going to touch music in JC.

im probably never touching music again. D:

limits, boundaries, confinement. i resent it. without it i've probably have done so much better in music, and probably gone on to do what i really want to do.

what i've been wanting, waiting, dreaming about to do so long.

it hit me. how much you disregard music, and focus so much on my sciences, dictating me to do what YOU want me to do.
your dreams differ from mine, and yours seems to be of much more importance.
dont care whatever i feel, cause i'll grow to love whatever you have in store for me one day.

one day.

that's all bull. i hope that day never comes.

i resent conformity. won't we all be unregconisable if conformity happens?

im still brooding over music. like the stuff i really want to do, but will never get to due to "limits".

but on a happier note, the Sitar demostration for indian music on monday after coursework was really insightful and enjoyable. i've learnt to appreciate indian music so much more now, and im LOVING it, though i still love gamelan more. i think gamelan, african music and indian music are all so enjoyable to listen to.

okay chinese music is okay, but abit too, i dont know. i just cant identify with it. and jap music is D: i dont like noh or kabuki! D: i dont get it at all. i cant appreciate. D: even though i love the nohkan, the o-tsuzuki and ko-tsuzuki and stuff, with all the drumcalls, but the overall music is so hard to interprete and appreciate. :/

i need to start working on performance. i feel like im going to screw it all up again. and then i'll screw up like 15% of my whole year's marks for music. sucks.

and i need to brush up on theory. MY THEORY SUCKS. shena and i were all confused during music yesterday when mrs ee went through the theory part of the o level music paper and we kept asking goh bin the pro. i think the pro was damn irritated with our stupidity afterwards, he kept laughing and sighing and tutting at us. D:

anyway my point is that indian music is very inspirational and fun! :D and my eye-candy was damn pro lah. :D (okay only sok/liuyi knows what im talking about)

omg i totally went out of point. at this rate im going to fail.

warning: TOKIO HOTEL POST! :D

MTV VMAs this year was a blast, totally. :D

Tokio hotel won the best new artist catogory, beating other stars like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Jordin Sparks, and Katy Perry. The other catogory they were nominated in was for the best pop video, against other artists like the Jonas Brothers and Britney Spears.

but of course, britney was the star of the night, winning 3 moonmans in the best pop video, best female video and video of the year. other winners include the pussycat dolls, winning the best dance video award, linkin park winning the best rock video and Chris Brown, winning the best male video award.

anyway, pictures! :D

Spears & Tokio hotel cash in

Awesome comeback for Britney Spears: at the 25th MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles she won in all 3 categories in which she was nominated. The German teen band Tokio Hotel are crowned Best New Artist.

“Tokio Hotel are stunned and totally flipping out”, tells there manager David Jost after the VMA’s on the phone, “We are gonna get drunk first”, Tom yells in the background, “regardless if I have to be 21 here in America to do that or not. The night is ours”. “They will have a quiet celebration”, Jost convinces, “they are decent boys”. Right now, the boys are freaking out. For the first time in the history of the MTV Video Music Awards a German band is nominated twice and then they also beat American superstars such as Miley Cyrus, Kate Perry, Jordan Sparks and Taylor Swift. Unbelievable! There entrance at the red carpet was really spectacular. Tokio Hotel came in a monster truck with big letters on the side which said “Tokio Hotel”.

The most beautiful birthday gift in the world

With “Ready, Set, Go” they approached the entrance of the legendary Paramount studios in Hollywood and then they jumped out of the trunk onto the red carpet. “Who are these crazy boys”, a US reporter wants to know, “the truck shines like the moon”. In America Tokio Hotel already have lots of fans but on the red carpet they are something new for the local press. Everyone is asking Bill about his big hair “It’s all real”, he laughs. “We aren’t nervous at all”, Tom claims to Bunte online, “we don’t expect to win”. “we are just happy our name is even mentioned in a category with Miley Cyrus”, Gustav ads, on his 20th birthday which is the most beautiful gift in his life. The award for “Best new Artist” was voted by just fans through sms.

“We are looking forward to see Pink”

Also Bill and Tom celebrated there birthday on the 1st of September in Los Angeles. “We just relaxed on the beach of Santa Monica, give our mind some peace and were kicking it with Gustav and Georg”, Bill reveals. What do they have to say about there double nomination? “We are terribly happy. It is a big honour for us. That we would stand on this carpet we would never have dreamt. You can’t describe it in words and everything I could say right now would be undervalued”, Bill tells, “It is really hard work to make it from Europe to America, but we feel really good about it right now”, Tom tells excited. And who are they looking forward to see at the VMA’s? “We really like Pink and are really looking forward to see her perform”, Bill reveals. Backstage the Pussycat dolls come in to congratulate them “We love these boys”, shouts lead pussycat doll Nicole Scherzinger.

“We deserve a little break”

In the next few days Tokio Hotel have an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show and then it’s back to Germany. “We wanna record a new album, make something new and be creative again. Then we will pull back a little from the spotlight” Bills gives away, “We have been on the road for 3 years and deserve a little break”. The fans will be sad.

And how do they explain the success in America? “We have thought about that long and hard but gave up on finding the answer. We just have been really lucky and are incredibly gratefull that we can experience this”, Bill answers. Now it is time to party first. After the VMA’s Tokio hotel went to the MTV After Party and celebrated hard and after that it was on to the Interscope Party in Santa Monica. Congratulations!

Tokio Hotel: Our awesome victory night by MTV!

This is a party Tokio Hotel will never forget! The Magdeburger boys won the pop-prize "MTV Video Music Awards" in Los Angeles – as the first German band!

It is the absolute crown on their young career!

The four Magdeburger boys from "Tokio Hotel" are crowned as best newcomer ["Ready, Set, Go"] on the MTV Video Music Awards in LA.

With this the desired"Moonman" went for the first time in his 25 year history of the awards to a German band!

Now Bill [19], Tom [19], Georg [21] and Gustav [20] are real world stars – and also party like it!

Shortly after 8pm local time, the boys were awarded. In front of millions of TV watchers, Bill [in really good English]: “Now we want to thank all our fans all over the world”.

Bill to BILD: “When we got the award, I was completely speechless - then Tom drank himself down under till 5am in the morning. At a private party from their record label Interscope-Universal in Santa Monica – with a view on the Baywatch beach from Malibu...

Tom:"We just wanted one thing, party hard! Just like super stars like Britney, Christina Aguilera, Pink or Kid Rock”".

Vodka with Red Bull they drank against tiredness, a few glasses of champagne against the anxiety, and water to hang on with. Tom: “Awesome party – and the girls are also pretty fly. They constantly scream wherever we go”.

When the sun rose over the Pacific beach to say “Good Morning”, the four boys in four stars hotel “Casa del Mar” said “Good night”.

The next plans for Tokio Hotel: “One more talk show appearance in the USA, then the flight back to Germany. Now Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg want to get back in the studio again – to record their third album.

tokio hotel were also featured in the VMAs with Miley Cyrus playing "guitar hero" backstage, before miley was supposed to introduce Pink's performance at the Paramount Studios. :D

the VMA performances were awesome. i thought Rihanna was okay, but i guess Pink's "what if" was my favourite. she's so outrageous and dangerous! :D i love her. and her performance certainly made full use of the paramount studios. it was totally like hollywood. :D i loved her breaking the mirrors, glass, sliding down the rope, all the fire explosions etc etc etc. outrageous totally.

jonas brothers were kinda cool. i loved how they made use of the paramount studios, creating the typical hollywood feel, but i dont like "lovebug" D: sorry! haha. oh, but Kanye West's lovelock down was pretty nice. i loved how he had all those drums behind him and stuff. brought a pretty good end to the show. :D

tokio hotel with pussycat dolls at the after show party. :D

tokio hotel VMA 2008 message. :D

oh, happy belated birthday to GUSTAV by the way, :D the pro drummer of tokio hotel , who just turned 20 on the 8th september. <3>
----------------------
i like CARMEN! :D it's french! (not italian. PHEW!) and it's by bizet. and the songs in it are so nice and revolutionary! :D i think madame butterfly is nice too, I LOVE THE ORCHESTRATION. :D
i think Wagner is VIELLL COOOOLLL. he composed the opera Tristan und Isolde, which is like, madness.

Tristan und Isolde proved to be a difficult opera to stage. Paris, the centre of the operatic world in the middle of the 19th century, was an obvious choice. However, after a disastrous staging of Tannhäuser at the Paris Opéra, Wagner offered the work to the Karlsruhe opera in 1861. When he visited the Vienna Court Opera to rehearse possible singers for this production, the management at Vienna suggested staging the opera in Vienna. Originally, the tenor Alois Ander was employed to sing the part of Tristan, but later proved incapable of learning the role. Despite over 70 rehearsals between 1862 and 1864, Tristan und Isolde was unable to be staged in Vienna, winning the opera a reputation as unperformable.

It was only after Wagner's adoption by Ludwig II of Bavaria that resources enough could be found to mount the premiere of Tristan und Isolde. Hans von Bülow was chosen to conduct the production at the Munich Opera, despite the fact that Wagner was having an affair with his wife, Cosima von Bülow. Even then, the planned premiere on May 15th 1865 had to be postponed because Isolde, Malvina Schnorr, had gone hoarse. It was only on June 10th 1865 that the work finally premiered. Ludwig Schnorr von Carolsfeld sang the role of Tristan and Malvina, his wife, sang Isolde. Three weeks after the fourth performance, Ludwig Schnorr von Carolsfeld died suddenly -- prompting speculation that the exertion involved in singing the part of Tristan had killed him. The stress of performing Tristan has also claimed the lives of conductors Felix Mottl in 1911 and Joseph Keilberth in 1968. Both men died after collapsing while conducting the second Act of the opera.

credits to wikipedia.

oh mein gott. genius. he composed an opera that no one can perform, and it claimed the lives of 3 men. O.O sie ist der beste.

okay i need to do concert journals, chem worksheet and study chem and bio now. D: and do the 10 chang wen suo duan. wth. D:

course work's starting next week. i dont think i can pass. D:

i think beethoven is such a genius. really really. :D

When the audience applauded, Beethoven was several measures off and still conducting. Because of that, the contralto Caroline Unger walked over and turned Beethoven around to accept the audience's cheers and applause. The whole audience acclaimed him through standing ovations five times; there were handkerchiefs in the air, hats, raised hands, so that Beethoven, who could not hear the applause, could at least see the ovation gestures.

At that time, it was customary that the Imperial couple be greeted with three ovations when they entered the hall. The fact that five ovations were received by a private person who was not even employed by the state, and moreover, was a musician (a class of people who had been perceived as lackeys at court), was in itself considered almost indecent. Police agents present at the concert had to break off this spontaneous explosion of ovations. Beethoven left the concert deeply moved.

that was after the premier of his Ninth (and final) symphony, CHORAL, when he was almost totally deaf.

i'd like to see something revolutionary like that happen in my lifetime.

okay i need to finish L.A. compre and bio topical ws and chem revision 1 tonight (this morning). sucks big time.
