musical laughs.

desperate times call for desperate measures.

question: what are the special effects played on the instrument heard in the extract? (guzheng)
answer: strumming, plucking, USE OF MALLETS.

answer: "thrill" (trill)

sarah: "mr lim, can i ask a question?"
m lim: "yea?"
sarah: "what's the use of the guzheng in the ancient times?!"
laiweng: "aiyo you never watch those wu3 xia2 ju4 meh!"

matthew lim's "funny" jokes.

val: "ehhh ehhh what's that indian instrument's name again arh? the drum the drum!"
ruimin: "mridangam"
val: "ayee i cannot remember! D:"
lim: "aiya very easy. just remember this." -puts hands together and shakes head in indian style- "MRIDANGAM" -with indian accent.

lim: "which instrument knows you best? answer: indian instruments like the sitar, cause they have SYMPATHETIC strings."

lim: "which genre of classical music is most disgusting? answer: concerto GROSSo."

lim: "opera buffa = buffa the opera slayer! :D" (buffy the vampire slayer)

while trying to give us hints before the exam.
lim: "okay people please sit down, and shut your Jor (jaw) and put on your Gat (guard)"

okay that didnt make sense. he said something like that.
and then.

lim: "you know how to remember Tambura? Tempura!"

and lots of other lame stuff which i've forgotten.

the past 2 years in music has been really enjoyable. music was the only class that i looked forward to having every week, and we only had 1 lesson per week. D: i'd like to believe that i've grown from it. it has widen my views and perspectives on music, and deepen my insights to it. even though i wasnt as good a student as i hoped that i would be, and that i didnt do as well in music as i hoped to, i've gain much from it, especially on world music.

world music's been my favourite component on this course. with things like indian music, (pro tabla guy! <3) and gamelan, it's hard for one not to appreciate the beauty of music. it has also made me feel more connected to the world, like gemma and her flute teacher playing gamelan in new zealand. only then did i really feel that the sentence "music is universal" made sense. it's really heartwarming when you travel to another country and see them playing the same music as you do, cause somehow, you just feel connected in a way. y/n?

music has cured my heart during my saddest times, accompanied me during my happiest moments, and made me strive harder for my goals.

so how am i supposed to let go. D:

i've leant so much, i even feel guilty now for not continuing my learning.

i fell in love with Staind's Outside. never heard it before, but it really suits my mood now. not lyrically but more musically. it's so soul-ful.

i realised that gustav's really pro. i like him in scream. he's just too cute. :D

how could you be so perfect?

during higher chinese o level briefing:

kuo: "in case of a natural disaster, touch wood arh, but ya. in case of an natural disaster occuring, e.g. an earthquake or flood, please go to a secondary school nearest to your house and sit for your papers there."

sijia: "walao. if got natural disaster i will just sit at home and prepare to die already lah! still take what o level paper."

it's funny how our society views our academics. suddenly, our tests and exams are so much more important than our lives.

HAHA monsoon's revolutionary. it's amazing how far tokio hotel can go with just one song, monsoon. they should start publisicing their other songs. :D
