"in our department, we're just like 1 big family" -desmond i think im really lucky. im in a department which is kinda relaxed, not so boring, and filled with nice people. even though it's really tiring, cause you've got to stand for about 10 hours straight (from 8-6), and when i reach home it's about 8, the people and the things i've learnt and experienced makes it all worthwhile. like i was so tired, i slept at 1.30 last night, and woke at 2 in the afternoon today. ._. win. desmond's really nice. i was supposed to do this report for ang, which was supposed to be on this new harddisk with 450 GB storage, like if it passed all the tests, and whether it's ready to be sold to customers etc. at first i was like omg what?! what if my report is wrong, and then they're going to hand it up to the managers?! won't i die? but then desmond was like "aiya nevermind, i kinda helped you do already so you don't have to do it. don't worry, just enjoy learning." :D omggg nice people. :D then there's lek, who's a technician. im not attached to him, im attached to reef, which is the production side, yet he's like "eh you got msn? give me your add i add you, then got anything you dont know for your report can ask me. :D" he's like one of the nicest people on earth. his shift is like from 8-5.30, like mine, but he stays on to do all the troubleshooting and debugging etc until really late at night. "take A train ride jim: tired man yesterday took last train and bus home." so it's like he does OT without extra pay. who the hell does that! :O and even when he's given an hour breaktime for lunch, he doesnt use 1 hour, i think he only uses 15 mins, and then goes back to work. then when he's free (when he's not being called around by the operators to solve the problems or when he's not in a midst of solving one, that is) he even bothers to call me and show me around, to explain the process of the datapower and how he tries to solves the failed datapowers and stuff. and when it's 5.30, he even bothers to ask why im not going home. ._. and im not attached to him at all. really. such nice people dont exist. it makes me guilty. but life's really tough as an engineer in the production line. it's like if there's a new product e.g. the datapowers, and if they fail the tests, you've got to troubleshoot it. and in my dept which has 2 major products (reef & datapower) the technician has to troubleshoot all the problems for all the tests e.g. drawer tests, chamber tests etc. it's really madness. you can hear all the operators calling for lek every few seconds if a machine fails the test and then he has to run around the whole dept solving all the problems. and if he cant solve them, the operators will have to reject the products to the engineers who have to solve the problems and rework the entire machine. currently there's like 20 or more datapowers which have been rejected by the operators and are lining up to be seen by the FA (failure analysis) engineers, and lek says it takes like a day to solve just 2 or 3 datapowers. win. oh on thurs there was something really funny. i was watching this chinese guys build the chassis (sorry i forgot his name. let's call him A.) then he was tested by SH, the engineer for operation 40, which was building the chassis. then ah may, and ani came to join in the fun. then B was like telling me about SH. ani: "eh. 你知道hor，-points to SH and ahmay- 这两个人很坏的leh. 有一次我要塔飞机, 第一次塔飞机ma, then这两个人来吓我，跟我说那个飞机会摇，会动的!" -ahmay and SH starts laughing- SH: "这是真的吗！” ani: "你hor，说话很直接leh，还做engineer！笨lah!" -then SH starts watching A build the chassis, and then A didnt follow the procedures, and SH started to scold him- A: "你说话可以不要那么直接吗？ 会伤到别人的心的!" ani: "你看lah! 笨arh 你! 笨!" -SH starts hissing, couldnt take it anymore- A: "eh! 你去撞墙吧！” -SH turns around to hit his head on the pillar- ani: "EH 不可以！你神经病阿！等一下他撞墙着整个builing 倒下来, we all MATI ARH! ” ah may: “对lorh，你想死我们却不想死leh！等我们下楼走出这个building你才来撞墙吧！” ani: "ya lorh! HAIYO SH ARH. 等一下我们都死怎么办！还有这个小妹妹！来不到一个星期就要跟你死!” ahmay: -cannot control laughter- "笨！ 你怎样做engineer的arh!" ani: "你也是！-turns around to point at A- 从中国来的！怎么可以叫他去撞墙呢！我知道你不要考但也不能这样吗！笨lah 你！ 笨！" it was damn hilarious cause SH and A's facial expressions at the 2 women's accusations were priceless. i was literally rofl. then yesterday was lek's turn to be hilarious. i was watching katherine doing the test for datapower then i think aya came up to her to pay her money to buy toto. katherine: "okay later i hit 1 million then i come and find you to give you the money. haha!" -laughs at her own joke- -desmond walks past and hears her- desmond: "eh WHAT WHAT. WHO GOT 1 MILLION?!!?" katherine: "haha no lah! i was joking only. she ask me help her buy toto, then i say if i hit 1 million i'll give her the money lah! wheregot 1 million! if not. i'll be the boss of this company already!" desmond: "eh no lah. IBM costs more than a million (obviously)" katherine: "haha joking lah!" desmond: "eh if hit 1 million must treat us okay! all of us hor. the whole department!" katherine: "if i hit 1 million, then i treat you guys then no money already what!" desmond: "treat us lah! come on! we're your family!" katherine: "see how lah. haha!" -lek walks past- desmond: "eh lek! katherine says she got 1 million leh." lek: "1 million? 1 million what. kimzhua(ghost money) arh!" -.- wthh! damn hilarious. lek: "very cheap what! you give $10, then you have 1 million kimzhua! :D" then later when checking the test600 on the datapowers with aya. lek: "aiya FAIL AGAIN. everyday fail fail fail! sian." aya: "new product what D: what to do! you can fix or not!" lek: "try lorh. if fail again i dont care already lah! reject to the engineers." aya: "haha. very troublesome hor!" lek: "aye better then the chamber one lah. the chamber test one of the chamber down, then went to see weird weird one! then got hantu." aya: "HUH?" lek: "ya! the com there right, you move the mouse only arh can auto click by itself! HAHA." no lah. it's the engineers taking over the com. you know it's like the engineers can acess the chamber coms from their own coms in their offices at the office floors and stuff. lek: "must burn the kimzhua for them!" aya: "eh i dont mind! i can go there and do the rituals and help you guys burn the paper. but must pay me 4 bucks an hour hor!" lek: "then we must all follow around" -does the ritual action- aya: "eh not bad leh. can earn extra money." lek: "haiya. stress lah. TOO STRESS UNTIL SIAO ALREADYY." lek: "oh you know, last night when i went home i took bus, then fell asleep. when i woke up i was like EH WHY THE BUS DARK DARK ONE. the bus reached the interchange already. then the bus driver was like EH WHY YOU STILL HERE. then the engine off already so cannot pay. haiya stress lah. STRESSSS." "very few of us here actually do what we really want to do. to us, this is just a job" "you've just got to do it." -gordon. gordon's freaking lame. yesterday he called for a meeting for all the shift B people for they start work and he was trying to brief them about the safety measures and regulations. then he was trying to read the malay translations but FAILED TERRIBLY. and to make sure that the china people actually understood what he was saying, he made them read the chinese translation aloud. ._. and everytime he tried to do some funny imitation or he tried to make a joke, he'd try to catch my eye, hoping that i'd laugh but NO. NOT FUNNY LAH. then there's albert from QA, who keeps imitating me and my actions. D: haha. just for the fun of it. he was the one who held up the paper cut out of gordon's face during the very very long briefing on the safety measures etc, making all of us laugh like siao. oh lek's going for reservice for the next 2 weeks so i wont ever be seeing him again.
